All sausage items will stay fresh up to 3 weeks in the refrigerator if left in the original unopened vacuum-tight packaging. Should packaging become loose—indicating an air leak—remove immediately and wrap in a paper towel. Sausages need air circulation, so do not wrap in plastic wrap if storing in the refrigerator. Sausage can also be frozen for 2 months, either in original packaging or in freezer bags, without affecting the flavor or quality. Defrost sausage slowly in refrigerator; do not thaw at room temperature.

Swiss cheese should be refrigerated upon arrival. Mustards and cornichons should be refrigerated after opening.

All these sausages are fully cooked and most are made with natural casings.

To serve cold, the Holsteiner, Landjaeger, Debreziner, Kilometer and Swiss cheese can be cubed and served with the mustard for dipping and Cornichons. The Holsteiner is also great sliced for sandwiches. The Deli Spread liver sausage can be sliced and put on crackers and topped with a slice of a Cornichon.

To serve warm, the Debreziner and Kilometer can be put on the grill or heated in a frying pan with a little oil. Place them over low heat, turning frequently, until they have a nice brown color—approximately 15 minutes. Just cut into bite size pieces, pierce with toothpicks and serve with mustard for dipping.

The Debreziner and Kilometer can also be heated in a pot of sauerkraut for extra flavor and then served with mustard and a roll.
